Linen and Bed Rolls Will Not Be Supplied on the Following Special Trains

The South Central Railway has announced that linen and bed rolls will not be provided on the special trains listed below, which were previously announced.

Types of Bedrolls in IRCTC Trains : Availability & Benefits

Indian Railways offers three types of bedrolls to passengers:

1. Standard Bedroll: Includes a blanket, bedsheet, pillow, and pillow cover.
2. Deluxe Bedroll: Contains everything in the standard bedroll plus a hand towel, bath towel, and nightspread.
3. E-Bedroll: A new online service where passengers can book bedrolls. Available on select trains, it includes a disposable bedsheet, blanket, pillow, pillow cover, and face towel.

Availability of Bedrolls in Trains

Bedrolls are provided to all passengers traveling in AC classes, including AC First Class, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier. They are not available in non-AC classes, so passengers must bring their own bedding.

The availability of bedrolls depends on the journey’s duration:

• Journeys under 12 hours: Only a blanket and pillow are provided.
• Journeys of 12-16 hours: A standard bedroll is provided.
• Journeys over 16 hours: A deluxe bedroll is provided.

Instructions for Railway Passengers

• Due to Covid-19 Pandemic Social Behaviour conditions, Linen services in AC classes of Indian Railway trains were withdrawn.
• Due to relaxation in Covid-19 pandemic conditions, relaxation has been made for providing Linen services in AC classes.
• As a result, Indian Railways has started provisioning of Linen Services in AC classes in stages for maintaining better hygiene.
• Passengers are advised to check the status of supply of Linens in AC classes provided below in Table, before starting their journey.
• The list of trains where Linen Services have started has been stated in Table given below.
• For trains, which are not mentioned in the Table below, Linen services have not yet started and will start in due course.
• Passengers are advised to make their own arrangements of Linen for their train journey in such trains.

Provision of Linen in AC-3 Tier Economy coaches

Central Railway announced that Railways have decided to provide Linen in all AC-3 Tier Economy coaches of following trains as standard compliment from the dates given against each train. The details are:

Takeaway Bedrolls in Trains

As per the announcement of the Railway Budget 2016 Railway Minster Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, introduced passenger friendly E-Bedroll services at Mumbai Central and CST Railway stations from 24.08.2016. This service is already provided at New Delhi, Chennai, Tirvandrum, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway stations, Railway announced through the Press release.  

Passenger will now be able to book their takeaway bedrolls through Railway’s Tourism  portal with an option to book a bedroll kit comprising of Pillow, Bed sheet to spread and Bed sheet, One each to pullover at Rs.140/- and a blanket kit comprising o of a a soft and cosy blanket at Rs. 110/-.

In order to avail these services, passengers can log into their Railway booking and click on the bedroll section and enter the required PNR and other information.   Once booked, the bedroll/blanket kit shall be delivered to the passenger at their train seat against the kit voucher that was issued to the passenger online at the time of booking. 

In addition to the above online booking option, passengers can also choose to buy these kits at Railway managed Food Court at Mumbai Central and Food Track Food Plaza at CST Railway stations.

The services can be availed by the valid ticket holding passenger from 10 am to 10 pm both online and can also directly purchase from the above mentioned outlets.   This service has been operational at select station on a pilot project basis for a period of 6 months and shall be replicated by Railway at many more stations after reviewing the response to the pilot initiative.

Indian railways announces one more passengers friendly facility. Railways also plan to introduce bedroll purchases via Vending Machines also.  

Important feature on this e-Bedroll facility is that passengers can take away that to their Home and re-use.

This facility introduced on trial basis on 4 major stations of Indian railways like New Delhi, Chennai, Tirvandrum and Hazrat Nizamuddin. Till this time there is no facility to provide the Bedrolls for Sleeper class or other passengers. After this everybody will enjoy Bedrolls on rail travel.

Cost of online Bedroll on Railway

• Two Bed Sheets and Pillow- Rs. 140 only

Blanket -Rs 110 only Two Bed Sheets , Pillow and Blanket – Rs. 250 only As of now railways providing Bedroll on AC classes only. On Garibh rarth Express we can opt the Bedroll at the time booking train ticket via Railway on Indian railways stations. But these bedrolls we cannot take to home. Those are allotted to passengers only for the travel period.

Steps to purchase bedroll online purchase

• Log on to Railway Tourism website using the address irctctourism.com

Select e-Bedroll option like our first image of this page. Website will ask you for the PNR Number. Enter the PNR from your booked ticket and press Search button on the right side. Follow the screen instruction to purchase the same.

Please note: The services will only be available during 06:00 AM till 10:00 PM. The services will only available during 06.00 am till 10.00 pm except Mumbai Central (BCT) stations. For Mumbai Central (BCT) station, services only be available during 10.00 am till 06.00 pm.

BED ROLL

South Eastern Railway announced that Railway provides bed-rolls in all classes of AC services for your comfortable journey without any extra charge for this facility.

Bed Roll kit is provided to all passengers of AC classes in 12245/12246 Howrah – Yeswantpur Duranto Express. The passengers of Sleeper Class can also be supplied with bedrolls in train if they indicate for bed roll on reservation requisition slip while booking the tickets.

Bed Roll charge of Rs.25/- per Bed Roll will be collected from the passenger who opt for bed roll in Duronto Express.

Please Note:

• Bed rolls comprising of one blanket, one pillow, 2 bed sheets and one face towel, are supplied free of cost to all passengers traveling by AC First Class, AC 2-tier sleeper and AC 3-tier sleeper classes including those boarding from intermediate stations.
• You can use bed roll supplied to you until the termination of the journey irrespective of the number of nights involved.
• Please return your bed roll to the Coach Attendant one hour before the arrival of the train at the destination station.
• In the event of non-supply of bed roll for any reason you will be entitled to a refund of Rs.20/- at the destination station. However, your claim for such refund should be registered within 20 hours of the train’s arrival. Journey Ticket supported by a certificate from the Conductor or TTE regarding non-supply of bed roll is to be furnished along with your claim for Refund.
• Bed Roll will be supplied in Garib Rath Express on payment of Rs 25/-.

✅ How can we book Bedroll?

Train passengers can purchase Bedroll online through the official Railway website. Passengers are required to provide the PNR number of their confirmed or RAC ticket. The system will validate the 10-digit PNR number and then show the information on bedroll availability, type, and cost.

✅ Which are all the steps to book Bedroll?

Follow the steps below to book bedrolls online:

• Log in to the Railway Tourism website
• After you have logged in, Select the eBedroll option
• Enter the PNR Number of your Confirmed/RAC train ticket and click the search tab
• Select the bedroll kit you want to purchase
• You can choose to pay online through credit card, net banking or debits card

Remember, passengers have to bear the transaction charges of banks if it is applicable. Once the bedroll booking is successful, you will receive confirmation through e-mail and SMS. Bedroll booking service is available between 06.00 hrs. to 22.00 hrs., so passengers should make sure to purchase Bedroll during this period.

✅ Is there any Advance Reservation Period for Bedroll?

A train passenger can book a Bedroll 60 days before the date of the journey. If you have not booked the Bedroll till the date of the journey, you can book it up to five hours before the scheduled departure of the train.

✅ What is Railway Bedroll Cancellation and Amendment rules?

• Passengers are not allowed to resell Bedrolls after use.
• Any Amendment or Cancellation of the Bedroll order must be made through the Railway website and with a registered ID.
• A Cancellation charge of 20% shall be incurred on passengers for any Amendment or Cancellation of Bedroll before five hours of the scheduled departure of the train.
• No refund to passengers for any Amendment or Cancellation of Bedroll within 5 hours of scheduled departure of the train.

In the event of non-supply of bedrolls, you should claim for refund within 20 hours of the train’s arrival. Also, make sure to certify your ticket from the TTE for non-supply of Bedrolls in the train because you will need to furnish it at the time of claim.
