Cyclone Fengal : Train Updates
The IMD reported that Cyclone Fengal completed its landfall process early Sunday around 2 a.m., crossing the Tamil Nadu coast between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram. Additionally, Cyclone Fengal has disrupted train services, leading to the cancellation of several trains.
Train Updates
Southern Railway has announced changes to train services due to the suspension of Bridge No. 452 between Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam, as well as Bridge No. 84 between Tirukoilur and Tandarai, caused by water levels rising above the danger mark.

- Train No. 22662 Rameswaram – Chennai Egmore Express that left Rameswaram at 20.20 hrs on 01.12.2024 is diverted to run via Villupuram, Katpadi, Arakkonam and Chennai Beach skipping stoppages at Tindivanam, Melmaruvathur, Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Mambalam . Additional stoppage is provided at Arakkonam and Perambur.
- Train No. 22613 Rameswaram – Ayodhya Cantt Superfast Express that left Rameswaram at 23.55 hrs on 01.12.2024 is diverted to run via Villupuram, Katpadi, Arakkonam and Gudur skipping stoppage at Chennai Egmore. Additional stoppage is provided at Perambur

Southern Railway announced that due to the suspension of Bridge No. 452 between Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam and rising water levels above the danger mark, the following changes have been made to train services:
- The Tiruchchirappalli–Chennai Egmore Cholan Express (Train No. 22676), scheduled to depart from Tiruchchirappalli at 11:00 AM on December 2, 2024, is fully canceled.
- The Nagercoil–Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20628), scheduled to depart from Nagercoil at 2:20 PM on December 2, 2024, is fully canceled.
- The Madurai–Chennai Egmore Tejas Express (Train No. 22672), scheduled to depart from Madurai at 3:00 PM on December 2, 2024, is fully canceled.
- The Chennai Egmore–Madurai Jan. Vaigai Express (Train No. 12635), scheduled to depart from Chennai Egmore at 1:50 PM on December 2, 2024, is fully canceled.
- The Chennai Egmore–Karaikkudi Pallavan Express (Train No. 12605), scheduled to depart from Chennai Egmore at 3:45 PM on December 2, 2024, is fully canceled.
- The Chennai Egmore–Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20665), scheduled to depart from Chennai Egmore at 2:50 PM on December 2, 2024, is fully canceled.
- The Tambaram–Nagercoil Express (Train No. 06011), scheduled to depart from Tambaram at 3:30 PM on December 2, 2024, will now originate from Tiruchirappalli. The service between Tambaram and Tiruchirappalli has been partially canceled.
- The Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli)–Tambaram AC Special (Train No. 06036), which departed from Kochuveli at 3:25 PM on December 1, 2024, is now short-terminated at Vriddhachalam. This update supersedes the earlier notification, Press Release No. 667, which stated that the train would terminate at Villupuram.
- The Nagercoil–Tambaram Special (Train No. 06012), which departed from Nagercoil at 11:15 PM on December 1, 2024, is now short-terminated at Tiruchirappalli. This change replaces the earlier notification, Press Release No. 667, which indicated termination at Villupuram.
- The Coimbatore–Tambaram Express (Train No. 06185), which departed from Coimbatore at 11:45 PM on December 1, 2024, is now short-terminated at Mayiladuthurai. This update replaces the earlier notification, Press Release No. 667, which mentioned termination at Villupuram.
- The Melmaruvathur–Villupuram MEMU (Train No. 06725), scheduled to depart from Melmaruvathur at 11:45 AM on December 2, 2024, will now terminate at Tindivanam.
