An open online tender through E-AUCTION has been issued and will be opened on 25.09.2023. This project falls under the Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) Earning model and aims to construct a new pod hotel (sleeping pods) at Matheran. The proposed sleeping pods (Pod Hotel) will feature all necessary and modern amenities. The licensee is allowed to provide in-house pantry services exclusively for the occupants/users of the sleeping pods (Pod Hotel). Additionally, the licensee may construct and operate a lift for the convenience of sleeping pod users, subject to feasibility and approval by the competent authority. Furthermore, the licensee is permitted to develop sleeping pods, Swiss cottage tents, or any other type of tented accommodations, as well as arrange guide facilities and trekking activities for the occupants. It is opened to give more comfort, affordable and cheaper stay options to the Passengers at CSMT, Mumbai, located near the waiting room on the Main line of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway station. There are a total of 40 pods including 30 single pods, 6 double pods and 4 family pods. This classy air-conditioned accommodation Pod Hotel will provide full privacy, Mobile charging facility, Locker room facility, Fire alarm, Intercom, Deluxe toilet & bathroom etc. Booking of these Pods can be done through physical mode (at reception) and online mode via Mobile app. Central Railway had given the contract for development and operation of the sleeping pods to Namah Enterprises for a license fees of Rs. 10, 07,786/- per annum for a period of five years and Railways will earn a revenue of Rs.55.68 lakh. While the Classic Pods and Ladies only Pods will comfortably fit one guest, the Private Pod will also have a private space within the room, whereas the Room for Differently abled will comfortably fit 2 guests with space for free movement of Wheelchair.
