Indian Railway is offering the services of Porter or Coolie at Railway station in order to remove the travel burden of passengers. Although Indian railway porters are not employed directly by Indian Railways they are centrally trained and licensed, holding a licence issued in the name of the President of India. Railway is revising the porterage charges time to time, here we are updating the details Porter charges at Railway stations.
South Central Railway announced that Porter Charges at Railway stations are revised. The charges for engaging licensed porters at Railway stations to cart the passengers luggage have been revised over South Central Railway.
The revised rates will be implemented as detailed below:

Porterage Charges are different in various stations, it depend on the category of stations. Northern Railway’s Delhi Division Coolie’s Porterage charges are following.
Earlier Western Railway revised the porterage charges in July 1,2016. Licensed porters are available at all important stations for carrying luggage of passengers. These porters are not railways employees but are licensed by railways and must be paid authorized charges displayed at prominent places at railway stations, a famous News paper reported. Following are the revised porterage charges by Western Railway
To carry luggage from Western Railway to Central Railway and vice versa at Dadar station the charges will be Rs 50 , adding the passenger will be charged this amount if he is availing the service lasting not more than 30 minutes.
Western Railway also revised the waiting charges applicable to passengers availing the facility of its rest rooms. Waiting charges after 30 minutes for every half an hour or part there of has been revised to Rs 50 for all ‘A1’ and ‘A’ class stations; Rs 45 for all ‘B’ and ‘C’ class stations and Rs 40 for all other remaining stations.
Wester Railway implementing a QR code based identification cards for the porters, the first of which is being tried at Surat Railway Station. It has been made compulsory for every porters to wear the QR based identity card around the neck at the time of duty.
With this biometric card, inspecting officers will have instant access to individual porters’ entire details by using the dedicated mobile application. The cards will also feature a rate list on the top so that passengers can pay appropriately. So this will not only help in ending disputes between porters and passengers at the time of ferrying luggage between platform, but also the illegal usage of the batch number of the licensed porters.
The idea of porters carrying such rate cards in a visible manner was suggested by the passenger amenities committee to the Western Railway authorities after an inspection drive it had carried out on various railway stations falling in the WR section.
This biometric cards will allow us to track the porters through the specialised mobile application. On receiving the complaint, the entire detail of the parters can be accessed easily by entering the unique code of the parter.
Southern Railway opened Help Desk for assistance of licensed Sahayak or Porters at Dr MGR Chennai Central for the benefit of passengers
Presently approximately 20,000 Sahayaks are working over various railway stations of Indian Railways. With the advent of lifts and escalators on railway stations along with increased usage of luggage trolleys, the role of license porters has under gone change. In view of persistent demands from license porters and to make their working more comfortable, Indian Railways has taken several measures towards their welfare, Railway announced through a press release on 7th March 2019.

In New Delhi Railway Station from platform number 1 to number 16 they asked me rupees 2000 for three trolley bags and two gunny bags. I couldn't believe my ears! Even my luggage were not worth that amount!! The rate list should be pasted everywhere in the station..

Railways claim are a big farce
There are only two uses of this info-
1) If you see this info before bargaining with the porter- Then you try to minimise the amount of which you are being cheated.
2) If you see this info after bargaining with the porter- Then you can calculate the amount of which you have been cheated
Really Incredible India & incredible Indian Railways.
By the way mine was the second case.
